This was the early beginnings of it.

It is also their go to place when they need to hide from the vacuum cleaner.

  1. THE number one reason I got a platform bed with no underneath. When my Scarlett was a kitten, she did that to my bed and hid everything and anything in there. Went two weeks without my glasses because she hid them!

  2. Yaaaa my cats to but then they started trying to pee under there so I just filled up under my bed with a ton of shoe boxes. So no more kitty playground. :/

  3. I made a long board out of 2 plywood boards secured together w/ a piece that looks like a hinge since 1 wasn't enough. Then I put that between the frame and the bed to help with support. That could also be a relatively inexpensive solution to that problem, too.

  4. Mine do this with a chair in the living room...you can be sitting there for hours, reading a good book, and out of nowhere the seat comes alive and starts attacking your feet :/

  5. Mine was torn out sooo long ago lol but I have 3 that hide and one that chases the vacuum.

  6. Ack! Now I have to go check. They did it to my sofa chair, but I didn't even think about the box spring!!

  9. i absolutely love your drawings!! my boyfriend's kitties are just like yours and i get a kick out of showing him these. thanks :)

  10. Our dog started doing this too. Cat was clearly a bad influence. They did it to both of our couches as well. Brats. <3

  11. The bottom of my couch look exactly like that. My cat Miso is getting too big to go under but he'll still try as hard as he can to squeeze through.

  12. That looks like our last bed - the humans got a new one eventually.

  13. I'm so relieved that I'm not the only person this happens to.

    1. Ditto!! I just went through 45 minutes of desperate searching for a new kitten we recently added to our household, only to find her burrowed so deep into the box spring that she couldn't find her way out...

  14. Why do people have box springs? Is there something there I'm missing?

  15. I like when cats do their upside-down running under the bed.

  16. My kitty also does this to our bed :( We ended up having to remove the material part as it was just making it more fun for him and less fun for us.

    Silly spelunking kitties!

  17. My cats did this to my lounge. I was worried about sitting on them and hurting them, so i sealed it up with strong fabric and staples. They are now trying to dig a hole through the arms

  18. Haha, aw! Mine mostly demolishes chair or tables. She's pretty mellow though;)

  19. Our couch looks just like your bed! ;-)

  20. My cat only liked to tear the material. Climbing in the boxspring was boring. Better to go out the window and on the roof.

  21. Ahah one of mine did the same under the sofa

  22. I remember getting my first room, all to myself when I was five years old, and not long after there was a hole, and later holes, for the kitties to hide in. I learned quickly as cute, cuddly and fluffy cats are, to close my bedroom at all times.

  23. First mattress -- shredded. Second bed...bottom drawers with no access, haHA - outsmarted! Then we found the futon...

  24. One of my cats did this to a chair and hid out from a house sitter for over a week.

  25. My male cat is notorious for doing this just about every night around 2AM. I've tried closing my bedroom door to him, but he still scratches at the carpet and door frame. I think a platform bed is the next step to go.

  26. Another platform bed afficionado here, and the sofa is low and leather. Also, the entire house is fully outfitted with a plethora of cat furnishings, scratching pads, scratching posts, and toys, so the general-purpose furniture stays nice. :)

  27. My cat almost died in there last weekend... got a string stuck around her neck, then freaked out, hid in the box spring, and the string got tangled up in there. Thank god we were home to rescue her. :(

  28. this totally happened to me too! i couldnt sleep cause there was a kitten running around in my box spring. i had to get a new one.

  29. I get an extra fitted sheet and put it on the box spring so that it covers the thin fabric stuff. No more kitty playground.

    ReplyDelete
  30. i might just try that fitted sheet idea...

  31. A couple I know has a blowdrier under the bed. In the middle of the night, if the cats do what they're doing on the comic, they plug the blowdrier for one or two seconds and the cats are already as far as possible.

  32. No!!! Ha ha ha!!! It really happened to me. Especially in winter time. My male cat play with himself, running here and there, all alone. Do your kitties do the same? Sometimes I think he has an invisible friend, or that he is under the devil powers, ha ha!

  33. I just found your blog and love it! Great, funny 'toons.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Good. I thought my cats were the only ones who did this!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Haha I didn't realise cats can be so cheeky!

  36. This same thing happened with my cat. Once my fiancee and I removed all the fabric under the box spring, he got bored. Next bed is going to be a platform bed.

His new hobby is throwing himself at the window when a bird flies by our third floor apartment window. He never climbed curtains before until just this morning (he's 3 years old).

  37. I like to think of this as "Kitty Narnia". my cat disappears for hours under my bed.

    1. hahaha! "Kitty Narnia" - that's brilliant!
Watch out for the sequel...The Voyage of the Claw'd Treader.....

  38. My cats did that to our first sofa!! So annoying!

  39. My first cat burrowed under the mattress as a kitten, and one day, when she was older, after a bath she went into the mattress again and strangled herself to death. I will never let another cat of mine burrow into furniture again.

  40. When my cat had kittens, she brought them under my bed on the fabric to live. I would take them out at night and play with them =)

    ReplyDelete
  41. holy crap, i thought my kittys were the only ones that did this.

    ReplyDelete
  42. OMG. I have had two different cats who have done this. It's not just me!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. LOL! It's so true!!! My black cat started doing it randomly a few years ago and now the rest of the cats use that space to hide whenever I have a party. So ridiculous :P

    ReplyDelete
  44. That's my cat Jill, it's also her place to hide. It's the crawl space for cats!

  45. A vinyl box springs cover takes care of this. It's pretty inexpensive ($8-20), and keeps in/out bedbugs and dustmites, too.

  46. Kitty is harmful for Bed,
