    2. Try:

      1. VALERIAN instead. Boy kitteh didn't get off on 'nip but would go mental for Valerian.

      2. CLOVE OIL. We had a tea towel that had been soaked in clovey-water, and dried in the sun. Both kittehs (as four month old babies) went absolutely nutso for it! They were rolling around on the wooden floor where the tea towel had been and growly-purring at each other.

    3. All my male cats are immune to catnip. Maybe Mugi is slightly affected but I just think he gets excited seeing my girls react to it and he wants to roll around and play too. But if its just him and Ollie, or the foster kitten he doesnt react to it at all.

    4. Also, my Kater tots used to go crazy for the smell of Bengay. She would jump on me and start biting me and rubbing on me when i used it. Shelly hates it though and will run away when he smells it.

  5. It reminds me about that episode of "Sabrina, the teenage witch" wich Salem was drinking a kind of canned drink called "HappyCat" and he's totally drunk =P

  6. Great comic! My cat has a catnip ball that, when she is in the right mood, she will lay on top of and just rub her face all over it. If it gets away she just ribs her face on the carpet instead

    1. Aha... those cats that don't react to catnip often get a similar high on wet honeysuckle wood. They sniff it and go totally nuts. Just make sure your kitty doesn't eat it, it could get him sick. You could put some honeysuckle woodchips or sawdust in a catnip toy. Also, if your cat is really young, he doesn't have the ability to get stoned on catnip or honeysuckle until around five months. Hope that helps :)

  10. my three love the "nip" but my good kitty bubba is especially fond of it, so funny to see miss prissy go silly that we grow it special fresh for her.

  12. For everyone who has a cat that doesn't react to catnip you should try silvervine. I pick it up over at the nip and bones online (nip and bones . com), they make great pillows our kitties love!

  13. My cat had what I assume was a bad trip on catnip, and since then he actively avoids it. The best I can figure is he thought his tail was trying to kill him. O^O

  14. Oh, yeah!!! This must be what Little Miss Moxie sees when she goes on a 'niptrip!!! >^.^<

    1. Could be too young. They usually don't respond until about 8 months old or so.

  19. I always throw the catnip in my cats face too.

  20. Some cats also prefer cat nip spray. It's liquid cat nip. My Zoey responds to both pretty well. A lot of nights before bed I'll give her favorite toys and her cat tree a spray so she'll have some fun while we're sleeping.

About four years late, but...Partially inspired by this comic, I actually made little octopi with catnip in them. And as I type I can hear that my cat (Valka Ree) stole one off of the table and is murdering it.

    Easy to make too.

    You'll need:
Socks, these guys are made out of those no show socks
    Some form of stuffing
Catnip, or an alternative that your cat prefers

Cut the sock at the heel
Put a small handfull of stuffing in the toe
Cut about half way up where the arch would be, ensuring that the octopus has a head, in half
    Cut the halves in half
    Cut the ends in half
So you should have eight "legs"
Put a pinch of catnip in
Tie the legs to close the hole, I usually go opposites, making sure there are three on each side
    Draw eyes on
    Enjoy!
