    1. We're lucky that with our Wesley, we know his favorite hiding spot when it's insulin time. If he's in a really good mood he won't hide, I think because he's made the connection that it's made him feel better.

Pills are a whole different story!

  4. This is why I always do mine right before mealtime. That way I know that without fail she is in the kitchen frantically meowing at me to put her food bowl down. :D

  6. When I used to need to give medicine to my cat, I just dissolved it into its water. Tricks of the trade ;)

  7. Those are fake paws. It's a trap. Get out of there.

  8. It's worse when you have several cats and you have to medicate them all, because once you get the first, the others will be tipped off. You have to run a stealth operation to surprise the squirmiest one FIRST then move to the easiest ones.

  11. ROFMMTO! :) It's amazing how cleverly they disappear. Just like Cheshire Cat after the smile disappears. :)

  12. As crazy as it sounds, I actually know a cat who not only takes his daily medication willingly, but he comes when called to take it. And it doesn't taste good, he just likes the bit of gooshyfood food he gets right after.

  13. My cats are the same. They think they're hiding and then I get to see their tail or ears popping out from somewhere... LOL!!

  14. Half? almost quarter... then I have to wear my gloves, wrap him in a towel and struggle to make him swallow.... I do it before lunch time, so we can be friends again easily :)

  15. Since Ive trained mine, my cats voluntarily comes to me once she sees that im holding her meds. She actually patiently sits down and wait for me to give it to her.

How is it possible? Ever since I started giving her meds, i always give her a treat after she takes them. For her Meds = Treat. This is also applies whn I clean her ears. :-)

I also have 2 different type of treats, one is for the random times that i want to give her treats, then the other (her favorite) is strictly for rewards for taking her meds.

  16. We always know where Penny's hiding - under the bed is the only spot where we can't get her. She even wised up to the every-other-day schedule.

She will come out for bedtime treats, but she's smart enough to wait until she hears Lyra crunching to make sure that it's not a ruse.

  18. I had to give my newly adopted shelter cat antibiotics for a cold. It was like the cloister of trials. Hiding the pills in pill pockets worked for a few days (he's overweight and he'll eat nearly anything). When he got wise to those, I tried hiding them in marshmallows. That worked a couple times. Eventually, I had to grind up the pills and put them in canned food. He just thought he was getting his own special mealtime since I had to quarantine him in the bathroom so my other cat wouldn't try to eat it. Oh, kitties... You're too much.

  19. The only way mine will ever take his meds is if I grind them up, mix them with something gooey (like sour cream) and smear them all over his paw! Takes him half a day but eventually he cleans himself, to his great disgust.
Can't do it any other way - I'll get my face taken off.

  20. I try to keep my cats away from the window, if they see birds they will go nuts and knock everything off the tables and shelves.
