It's like having another cat!

When we moved from our old house, I swear...the fur was in all the nooks and crannies.

  2. Proper vacuum maintenance is essential both before and after each use. Check to make sure any foreign objects are not lodged in the hoses or wrapped around the drum brush. Change bags frequently.

  3. i bought a dyson it comes apart so i can clean it never loses suction and has a clear empty per vac bin...saves many arguments in our house with the three furry kids

  4. of course that's why the bagless vacuum was invented!

  5. Dyson. It's not an option in our 7 cat household anymore. But on the bright side, most people have to count them to know we have cats at all :) They may cost as much a small country, but they do work well worth it.

  6. Oh, and just in case anyone is curious, I asked that several people pitch in on one for my birthday two years ago, they found one on overstock for less than half the normal price :) so it's not a pipe dream if you really want it :P

  8. I've been dreaming of a dyson. And of a vitamix. Is it sad that I dream of household appliances?

  9. I bought a Bissel stick vacuum made especially for sucking cat hair off of linoleum flooring. =)

  12. My cat loves being vacuumed :) It's strange because most of the cats are afraid of vacuums. Of course I use the lowest power possible and do it really carefully. If you don't believe me you can check out my YT channel (I use the same nick as here), there's a video of it.

  13. I vacuum once a month. My cat always goes into crazy mode, running and jumping around meowing hysterically, like he does at night, and then when I turn it off I can see him observing it from another room. Eyes huge as discs and tail wagging furiously, body so flat you could almost mistake him for a carpet :p
Oh, and do you people vacuum the vacuum after use? It's like the plastic nuzzle gets charged and work as an additional cat-fur magnet.

  14. I've swept up many a "fuzz kitteh" with my Dyson. :)

  15. I've blown up my fourth vacuum due to cat hair overabundance. This was even a PET vacuum. Every time I vacuumed, I swear I could rebuild five cats. With as much hair as I have around my house, why are my cats not bald?

  16. We used to burn through vacuums fairly regularly until we bought a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser a few years ago. Powerful machine!

Of our four, only Rory, the crazy little boy, is not afraid of the vacuum. The two girls hide and the big boy hisses at it and the shop vac, because he thinks it's a monster. Not us for using it, but the vacuum itself!

  17. We know the feeling! And btw, u don't have to waste over $500 on a vacuum. I bought a reconditioned bagless upright for $60 and it does everything the overpriced "trendy" ones do. It has a HEPA filter, too.

  19. Before I got my Dyson I had a bag vac and one day I wondered why it seemed to be so poor at picking up hair even with a new bag. Then I noticed that there was more hair in the inlet and hoses...eventually I had to turn it on with no bag and a huge snake of compacted cat hair shot out of the back and out into the back yard.

  20. Gross. Especially 'threecatyard's story. Ew.

We got a Dyson for half price from Harvey Norman when they had a sale on them. Works fantastic, apart from the fact that it has a bar across the hose so you have to frequently knock the inevitable furball out or vacuum it, or scoop it out with your finger, which is a gross concept itself.

Lady Medusa, I vacuum my vacuum after using it - in Dyson's especially the plastic seems to charge and attract hair.

  21. "Lady Medusa, I vacuum my vacuum after using it" quite confusing!
