You know, I was just cleaning my house today and I kept thinking about how much fur there is from my 2 cats. Then I immediately thought I should ask you how you deal with cat fur. But then I was too shy. But then I read this and now I am not too shy, and am putting forth this question: How DO you deal with all the cat fur?!
I swear, it's everywhere! It's in my closet, on the top shelf of my bookshelf, embedded in every curtain and blanket I have, and gets on all my clothes. :(
francesca: i had one non-cat person come to my house. she had an allergy attack so she didn't stay too long. we bought an inhaler and stayed at their hotel instead.
dreamingofkira: hm. that's a tough one. some people use one of those furminator things. we steam vac. but the fur is still there...i dunno. i stopped thinking about it. haha!
I'm making friends only with ppl that think alike - catlovers (or gamers). Thats probably the reason, why they are mostly on-line friends.
As for fur problem, I had to solve it, cos I'm allergic to cats (and I do have a cat). All my floors are in stone, i vacuum clean few days a week (twice). All furniture are in fake leather, its easy to just vacuum clean them, or just clean with damp cloth. I dont have curtains. Every week I wash everything, beddings, normal laundry, and kitty carpets. I specially chose materials, to be able to just mashine wash them, and kitty loves his IKEA bathroom carpets(he can scratch, bite, or sleep on them and they are never destroyed). And all the clothes after washing during the ironing I roll with clothes roller. And in my pet shop they sell pocket rollers, so i have one always in my purse (most of my clothes are black, everything is visible).
Hi! I just found your blog, and when I linked it to my boyfriend it went like this: he: "it's you!! oO" me: "no, no it isn't, she has three cats and I only have two because you're mean and don't let me get an orange one!" xD So, yeah, great comics, had me laughing till tears and thinking "SO true" a dozen times over! =) (btw, came here through a link in blaghag)
Oh dear...there is something VERY familiar about this conversation, I am so used to the glazed over expression after 30 seconds of kitty stories, I am loving this series, each one could be written about me too :)
Hahaha your amazing, I LOVE YOU! I always feel like I talk about my cats too much and people are just being polite YUS something awesome to read through! Best kind of stumble! :) Have a great day!
I find the worst people to talk to about cats/pets are people who only have small children. They talk about baby peeing in their mouth and I'm sposed to go awww, I say kitty peed on the floor they go ewww
I have converted a few non cat people to cats. One lady was freaked out by cats. I took one of my kittens in to the office to try to rehome them and she fell in love and came round and took one home with her!
Im like you, not many friends, which is fine, I usually tend to stop talking to people who are not cat lovers. I enjoy chatting about my cats... I know I am way less annoying than people who always talk about their babies.
This used to happen to me with my friends who had kids. Now I give them back some of what they gave me, and when they ask me to stop talking about my cats, I ask them to stop talking about their kids.

Yeah. My cats sleep on my black work clothes, so I have to bring a lint roller with me to work sometimes. It's frustrating, but I still love them. <3 Actually, one of my cats likes to wear necklaces. It's really weird.
I find politics and fashion to be boring. I would much rather talk about my cats. Or your cats. Or cats on the internet. And Shelby, I have black work clothes, too and always take my lint roller with me in my work bag. LOL
I used to have a lot of friends when I had only two cats. But then I had five. Then eight. Now I have nine. And yes I can talk only about cat litter and cat food.
Oh dear, precisely! When my cat was struggling with CRF (he finally died on March 31, 2011), for months I kept texting my friends asking for support, and that was the only topic I had. They weren't cat ladies, but 2 of them were pretty nice to text back with nice words everytime. And it's ironic that I found more support online than in real life D: I'm planning a divorce now for my husband didn't show his support, he even said nasty things about my ill cat. Wish me luck.
To Anonymous - I feel your pain - as I lost my beloved 17 and a half year old cat, Mr. Kitty to CRF on 1/6/10. I was inconsolable. The pain was unbearable - but to my surprise, I received a great deal of support from my friends and family - including eleven sympathy cards. What really helped me through, however, was visiting pet loss grief message forums - the kind souls on these boards, understood exactly what I was going through and I don't know how I would have survived without their support and advice. I hope you are feeling better - trust me, you will. I think I cried everyday for almost three months but eventually the tears give way to happy memories...I promise.
*Snorts* Oh I NEVER do that. XD

I just figure the cat fur adds even more fibre to my diet and don't worry about it!
DeleteAHAHAHAHAH! Great! And what about when non-cat friends come to your house and look at your cat-shaped dishtowel, pot support, sugar bowl and so on? :D

ReplyDeletethe answer to how to deal with cat fur: don't bother.
ReplyDeleteall my work clothes are covered. lint roller and accept fate
I don't have any friend like that... All my friends are catlovers! So all chats are about cats...

ReplyDeletebest solution to this, if they don't like cats, don't have 'em as a friend! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, you have us, your blog readers. I don't mind talking about cats the whole day. ;) Or dogs, for that matter.

ReplyDeleteDealing with cat fur -
ReplyDeleteWhen I was buying my first house, I chose my carpet color to match my cat's fur.
I have this same problem!! Why don't people like hearing about my cats as much as I like talking about them?
