My immediate family and relatives are actually quite pet friendly. We’ve had cats, dogs, fish, bunnies, turtles, hamsters, chickens and ducks.

The chickens and ducks were very protective. If they saw someone approach me, they would attack that person’s foot by pecking them. And they’re very smart.

And yeah, cats, we’ve had lots and lots.

  4. That was my childhood growing up. Any stray animal got brought back home. One time, my stepdad took a dog I had found in a park back to the park while I was at school one day. He told me the owner had come for it. I was happy until I realized I hadnt put any lost dog posters out.

  5. With us, male and female, on both sides of the family going back forever, it's always been all about CATS. Oh, yes, there's been the odd turtle, bird, rat, or even dog; but we're cat-loving people. ;)

  7. Very cute! I love having a houseful of pets! I always had pets growing up. Pets are an important part of every household! Whenever I go over to someone's house and they have no pets, I get nervous. What kind of a person doesn't have pets??

  9. I've read your blog for a while and have loved every single one of your illustrations. Our family was always pet friendly but I did not get a kitty of my very own until college. I don't know how I lived without cats before!

  15. Aww! Kinda reminds me of how we got one of my childhood dogs, Kiki (now deceased). I found her wandering around the schoolyard, and she was so cute and scared-looking. The office let me call Mom to ask if I could take the doggy home, but of course she said no, we had to let them take the doggy to the pound so her owners would have a chance to find her.

Fast forward to Saturday errands. "Mommy, can we go to the pound and make sure the cute doggy's owners picked her up?" We did, and the cute doggy was on death row. Mom had been meaning to get another dog to keep our existing dog Casey company... so cute doggy was adopted and christened Kiki.

Mind you, this was only a couple days before Mom and Dad had to leave on a business trip, leaving poor Grandma to watch over dogs that may or may not get along. Mom has often said she must have been out of her mind. But the dogs took to each other right away, and all's well that ends well. :)

  17. We've had all kinds of pets. Including skunks and and raccoons.

Last summer I got some ducklings. Well, technically my grandma did, but I took care of them. One of them liked to perch on my chest, the other liked to sit on my head. They wouldn't let Gram touch them. They would try and preen my feathers for me. Of course, I just have skin. It hurt in a loving way.

  19. I have two indoor cats. One feral kitty I started feeding back in November that looks just like your grayish cat and this one (tag named DANA with disconnected #) dana has polydactyl paws. Anywho, she thinks my backyard patio is 'hers' and doesn't like my kitties to play outside. Now there's some other cat I've spotted eating Dana's food and i kid you not, I spotted this new cat chatting with another cat!! I could have sworn he was passin on the 411 about free food in my back patio!!! I just can't stop leaving food out though!! poor outside kitties <3

  20. That sounds like my house. Four cats, a Chihuahua, a bearded dragon, a tarantula, fish, two Cockatiels, and a flock of chickens and ducks that spend most of their time on the front porch.

I think I need an alpaca now.

  22. So cute! My family has tons of pets too... chickens, ducks, sheep, geese, dogs, and cats. The chickens/ducks/geese are awesome guard dogs (the dogs are too lazy - they're nothing like they're awesome long gone parents TT^TT)
People find it strange that they're pets not food. I don't think I'll EVER eat any of my pets even if I have nothing left. They're too much apart of my family ^^

  23. I used to have chickens and there was one in particular who used to come into the house, sit on the bed with me and watch movies. It ruled. She was my movie buddy.
