The first week of March would have marked his 12th birthday. Your blog makes me smile and finding the cartoon on Christmas Eve made me smile again. I just needed to say thank you.

  48. I first saw you blog linked to huffpost, but now I check back every couple weeks. I love your comics and how they relate to my life. I have a STUPID DOG that destroys over a thousand dollar worth of stuff. Just two days ago he chewed up three pair of high heels totaling $200 worth of damage and a PS3 remote control... and a bag of rabbit food. Good thing he didnt get to our rabbit... yet... and then I have two cat, and one cat is a smelly kitty and one time she sat on my mom's lap with a big clump of poo attached to her butt hair, and the other steals my pens/hair ties, make up brushes and hides them from me. My other dog is cool though, he is just a witness to the horrors of my home.

  56. Hello,
I've just recently discovered CvsH and it gives me The Happy. Just wanted to say you have helped me as a fairly new cat owner (I've been living with Baron Von Ryan and Crazy Daisy Face for a little over two years now) because you make me and my kittehs and our collective behaviour feel "normal". I was a little worried there for a while that we were weird. Also, I'm really pleased about the book, I will be buying a copy. Go you!!
Okay, that's it. Thanks for being awesome and stuff.
    V. xx

  57. My wife and I have recently discovered your cartoons and we really enjoy them. There are three wonderful felines inhabiting the house with us, and more often than not the situations are quite familiar (not when the dinosaur appears).

Again, congratulations on the great work.

  58. Hey, Yasmine! Awesome stuff. I just wanted to say hello and compliment on your comics. I would pretty much feel bad if i viewed these and didn't atleast compliment the creator. I'm about to start up a Let's Play seriesm after my intro's been created. I'll talk about your whole cat comic thing and post a link in the description. If that's alright with you, Ofcourse.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Your style is so fun and loving, I am now a subscriber! I have one cat (11 years) Pearl. Even having just one allows me to relate to almost everything you write/draw. Except printers, Pearl HATES the printer.. hysterical meowing and eventually leaves the room. Strange but, gotta love 'em!

    ReplyDelete
  70. You literally have my dream job! When asked what I'm planning on doing with my art degree, my first instinct is usually to say that I will keep drawing cats, or write children's books about cats. But I've stopped that answer for my parent's sake.
Now I just take a creative writing class as an elective course and write about cats. My class thinks I'm weird.

But truly, I love your work! It feels like you know me to a tee :)
I can't wait for the book! Keep making art.

  75. Hi Yasmine! I just recently ran into your blog...and wow! Your stuff is amazing! Really really good and funny! I love it! It's quickly becoming one of my favorite blogs! Now, if you can answer one technical question: how do you draw your stuff? do you use any software? Which one? Tablet, regular pen? scanner? how?

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  76. oh i just use CS5 and a tablet :) i draw directly on the computer as i try to save paper as much as i can. i do the rough sketches on the computer and clean it up. i don't use a scanner.

  77. Hi Yasmine! I DO love your blog, I just laugh to dead with every single comic of yours! For me, it's kind of autobiographical, sometimes I see myself in 10 years surrounded by cats, dogs, turtles, chinchillas, whatever! I'm lucky, my partner is biologist and he tolerates my 'animalholic' illness :P

    Awesome blog, lovely kittens!

  84. I stumbled upon one of your comics through the laughing squid blog yesterday. I was hooked the moment I linked to your site! Your comics are wonderfully insightful, smart, witty and absolutely fabulous!! I laughed and thought more than once "This woman is drawing/writing about my life"! I LOVE cats. Maybe more than I do my amazing husband. :) Their behavior facinates and endlessly entertains me. We share our home with 3 rescue cats too, Max, Lizzy, & Ava. My Dyson vacuum consistantly loses the battle to the tumbleweeds of cat hair gliding across our kitchen floor. And this I happily live with! Thank you for your awesome comics! I look forward to seeing more!

  88. I love cats and the rock band KISS. Is there any way you might be able to bring the two together in one of your hilariously funny comic strips? BTW, if you don't know anything about KISS, their original drummer wore makeup that looked like a cat. I can give you plenty of ideas if you need them, but you seem pretty creative. Please do it for me and all of the kitty KISS fans in the world. As soon as I win the lottery I will send you that $1,000,000!

  89. you said in one of your comics that your asian? do ypo mind if i ask where sre you from?

  90. Yasmin! Your comics are adorable! I'm sad to have missed out on the sticker giveaway, damn Austrailan time difference *mutter mutter*.

My husband didn't like cats originally and was alergic so to convince him to let me have a cat (or two) I agreed to let him name them. So that is why I have cats all named after Final Fantasy VII characters. Vincent Valentine the Tabby, Lulu the black cat (who sadly passed away - we think it was because she was named after a FFX character) and now, two month old Rufus who is gray and white. *SQUEEE* I love it when he purrs and sleeps in my underarm and thinks a freckle on my neck is a kitty boobie and tries to drink from my neck like some kind of fluffy vampire! Keep up the awesome kitty goodness! :)

    ReplyDelete
  91. Your comics are great, they never fail to make me smile :)
Congratulations with your first book - I wish you and your cats all the best, hopefully many more books will follow!

  92. Argh, STOP DRAWING MY LIFE!!!

So I'm assuming that all cat owners and lovers experience similar things, but your posts do seem so very relevant to mine! I.e. today I woke up because my kitty Ramona was nibbling my toes or "meaty bed animals" as I like to think she calls them...

I strangely only discovered this blog last week but read every single post in one sitting and I absolutely ADORE your illustrations.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Had a similar experience with my mothers cat and I. I would walk up and give him a scratch on the head and he would then jump off my mothers lap and follow me even though she was patting him at the time. Would get very nasty looks from my mother every time. Even if I didn't pat him he would come over to me. Guess I have ~peeks over glasses~ animal magnetism. YEEEEEAH! Sorry.. could not resist.

Love the stories. SOOOO ADORABLE! Very big kitty cat fan. Your art style is superb and so beautiful. Makes me just gaze in awe at every line and stroke. Every new post makes my day bright and fluffy.

  99. My cat Vicious just died. She did not suffer and was with us until the very end. I loved her so very much and had the priviledge of spending countles years in her company.

Once I and my friends were playing yathzee inside and heard a piercing howl outside. That kind of howl means something's dead. Rushing to the yard we saw her carrying dead flying squirrel in her mouth.

But she wasn't really vicious. She had, like all the loved cats have, many many names; It was just first thing that came to my mind when I saw her gaze the first time. She slept beside my head every night. She didn't really meow but more like chirped like a bird. Her conversation was something very interesting to follow.

Now she feels no pain or discomfort. I will allways remember her.

btw. Like your comic a lot. Keep up the good work :)

  107. Hi, I think you need to draw a comic where an alpha cat (My Kiddie) attacks her subordinate cat (My Binx) when I take Kiddie of the top of my flat screen TV. She thinks that he has to be punished as well even though he is an angel cat. Anyway, love your comic, keep drawing :)

Keep in mind, maybe there are 'cat ladies' but there can be 'cat men' too.... (blushes as he thinks about putting out food and water for a lonely looking stray)
also, water squirters work a charm for persuading cats that they REALLY DONT WANT to walk on keyboards (well, worked for my lil baby panther, heh heh)

  128. Just thought of a comic idea...how to find your cat. haha I don't know if you've done anything like that before, but I just spend half an hour looking e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e for my cat, shaking the treat bag, making clinking sounds with his food bowl....nothing. I've looked everywhere a cat could possibly be...or at least I think I have. Hmmmm

  129. first of all your comics are hilarious and unfortunately the story of my life!
and second, i hope you dont mind me asking but i was just looking at some of your pics on twitter, and forgive me for being a complete tech idiot but how do you get that effect? the look of the images is beautiful and its on all of them so i figure it must be the camera?

  134. I showed my husband some of your comics and he's convinced you're stalking us. Seriously. We've had these exact scenarios. EXACT. Minus the dog. Add a cat.

  135. Hey~ My name is Nicolas, I'm from Tijuana, BC, Mexico. I love your blog and I found you in Tumblr, I just typed "cute kittens" in the tag search and pop! there it was, one of your drawings, I just love them and I had to follow you.

I love cats, so much, but my mom thinks they're stinky and stuff, specially males. Anyways, I have a cat, her name is Kyuubi, She's black and so cute and small, she's two years old. I just had to share her picture with you, because I know how much you love cats.

She's kinda shy and doesn't like people that much, only me, mom and sis. Also my sis has a baby poodle she hates her, hahaha.

And some of the stuff you draw she does it! I mean, i don't have any curtains because of her. And well, when I'm on my laptop she sleeps in my legs and hisses when i try to stand up like sying "hey! i'm sleeping here!" also, she has her own supplies of yoghurt.

Here is a picture of her, hope you can see it.

  139. Hi lovely, I've just found out that your material has been translated to portuguese by some shameful people and used as their own. They have pasted their logo onto yours and it has been fully shared on facebook. I follow your lovely work for a while now and it makes me sad to know that some bad intentioned people are using your material for self promotion without even asking you. I have marked your facebook page in my complaints at one of their shares for you to know what I'm talking about. Hope it helps!

  140. I love your illustration, I seem to see my cat: D.
It is very funny that I also used the figure of my cat who washes lol (except that I used it for a wallpaper).
Thank you very much for all emotions.

  144. Hi! I really like your comics! It kinds of makes out for the fact that I'm allergic and can't own cats (which doesn't stop me from cuddling with my sister's every time I visit!) Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  145. I love this blog. I have always loved animals(especially cats) and have seen these comics quite a bit without any credit given towards you. I'm glad that I found a site that actually linked me here so that I could say that you make great comics and to keep up the good work. =(^w^)=

  146. I'm teaching English in Fukushima, and had to explain "なれる" which is a mix of "become familiar", "loyal", and "helpful". [Cats During Emergencies] was perfect to show how some cats totally lack this trait, and thereby explain what it was. I printed it out 11x17 and used it in my class.

    Your comics are fantastic!

  147. Hello.

Just wanted to commend you on your excellent cartoons. It's always a treat to find fellow 'crazy cat ladies' (though my sister says I'm just crazy without the cat bit) I could really relate to some of your pictures - especially the ones with the long suffering partners.

You are an inspiration to us all

  149. awesome comics! cats are so precious and always keep it interesting!

try honeysuckle wood for a fun cat toy. they sell little pieces of it at some cat stores...it's like crack for cats, as good as catnip!

  153. Just got sent a link to your blog, and I LOVE IT. by the way, the taking them to the vet one, from august 27 2010? sometimes you gotta be a little deceptive if you don't want scratchies. try putting a laser pointer dot on the floor, and having them chase it into the carrier, then shut the door as fast as you can.

  154. I love your drawing and comics. They are hilarious and its great to find other crazy cat lovers. But I don't understand the way you draw yourself. You look caucasion in your comics when in real life you are a dark skinned pacific islander. This is not a rascist remark as I myself am Asian, but I don't understand why you portray yourself as something else in your comics?

  155. Holá, nice the cushion hanger, really nice. Just gave me an idea to make for my furry friends.

How can I suggest some pictures and videos for you?

To start, let me show you my Luna (bengal) playing fetch as a dog:

This other video shows the (5) kittens playing, in a really funny way:

And these two, of Luana and tigre having some quality time together. The first is the most watched of my videos, with almost 1/2 million views. Notice the way she dances on the floor afterwards, very graceful the little girl :)

  163. I was going to change my cat Oscar's name to Chuck or Ralph when he started throwing up after every can of food. Turns out he can no longer tolerate fat so he has diabetic cat biscuits (aargh) and fresh meat. So now he's eating lots of kangaroo, chicken breast, steak and lowfat milk and his yummy (ick) biscuits. His name is still Oscar, or sweetpea, or lambchop and he's back to grooming me if I'm not up to standard and has lots of kisses and cuddles for everyone. He's 16 years old and I'll do whatever it takes to keep him for as long as I can

  167. I'm a boy with a kitteh and i can recognize myself in soooo much of your drawings.

I find them amazing, you have you own style with these. It reminds me of the XKCD comics, simple, but funny, realistic, with a dash of philosophy sometimes.

    You can be proud.

  168. Oh, I love your blog! I just read the entire thing.
My new kitty, Imogen, doesn't eat her kibble. She rolls it around like a soccer ball, and then loses it under the basement door! Then she comes back to me, begging for a refill. Sometime I'll go into the basement and push the food back under, and she just stares at me like I'm crazy.
    Anyway, thanks for the entertainment!

  169. Have you done a comic yet about sweeping/vacuuming the floor, only to come home later that night and the cats have tracked it all over again? We are constantly picking it up on our bare or stocking feet, even when we think the apartment is clean!
