Gotta get a new one soon... no carpeting, so it needs to be able to do wood floors, and have some sort of easy to use hose that can do desks and shelves, with a micro attachment for electronics. Any experts here want to point me in the right direction?
I have a Simplicity Hepa bag hard case vac that has lasted me almost 15 years now. I am dreading getting a new vac, because I'm not a big fan of bagless, and that seems to be all there is these days. *sigh*
Cats and dogs will always shed, but I've found that a bit of extra fish oil, and the occasional scrambled egg treat does wonders for their coats. It also seems to cut down on the amount of fur left on the floor/couch/bed.
If anyone seems to be suffering from excessive shedding... like handfuls of fur every day type thing... ya might want to have the vet do a thyroid check. That's what happened with our dog. The regular test showed she was fine, but a more detailed test showed one tiny little hint that it might be a problem. As soon as we put her on the meds, the shedding went WAY down.
I made the switch from a 2004 Simplicity 7 series to the Dyson DC41. The . best . vacuum. Ever!!!!! So sad I spent fortunes on Roomba and Electrolux and Swiffer and Floormates.....none match the Dyson.
I have an Oreck. It's kept my carpet and floors like new. Light weight also, since I have a rabbit & 10 cats and arthritis! Bags are pricey, but worth the no dust or vacumn smell. Also has a 10 year warranty and yearly check ups. Even in price I think with Dysons, they are SO heavy, I give it 10+.
We have a second-gen Dyson - can't even remember the model number! - all original parts. I take it semi-apart once in a while to clean stuff, but no matter what, it is the first thing I have ever gotten that I can say truly sucks!! (In a GREAT way!!!) we have 6-7 cats (depending on who leaves us tragically; we our an indoor-only house, and our eldest-ever died last year at 20y 1m 3d. They are all buried under the pecan tree. Near to each other). I digress. The Dyson is so amazing that in the den especially where the cats normally spend all day lounging in the sun, I can *fill* the canister 1/3 of the way across the room! To do our entire house tends to run 6 canisters. Yup! It sucks alright!
Everyone is talking about the Dyson and I am sure it is amazing but it's SO expensive. I bought the Hoover Windtunnel for Pets (I have 3 cats who shed A LOT) and it works great!
Did you get a Dyson? I have one and I'm shocked that it's still working considering how much hair I have to vacuum every day, including mine.
ReplyDeleteI have really bad allergies but looove my ragdoll and tabby and the dyson is amazing had it 5 yrs+ totally worth the investment!!
DeleteI Love my shark and it works really good on cat hair.

DeletePerhaps the fuzzy onslaught will instigate a new sense of fur-covered fashion; Pet-Chic.
ReplyDeleteHaha, we have a wooden floor, so the fur doesn't get stick with the carpet. Great post.
