That's if kitty even bothers to acknowledge you in the first place. The only oddball in my house is Horus. He comes when called, unless there's birds in the backyard and he's busy chattering at them.
But I'm acknowledged, then ignored.
My boy Boof comes when I whistle. Even if he doesn't want to he can't stop himself until I stop, lol
My Nikki too!! I think the whistle sound bother her, so she comes close to me to make me stop, even if she doesn't really want to come. We must use that power with responsibility... LOL
Oooh, so true. That moment of joy when they walk toward your call, then the despair when they veer left, with a swish of the tail.
My baby kitten purrs if we make eye contact. No touching required.
Oh, um, she's about a year old now. Maybe not such a baby anymore.
Hi, Yas! The story of my life. They brake my heart all the time when I think they come to me when I'm calling them.
Sometimes they just look at you like you're a buffoon, and then walk away. I heard that you shouldn't keep making eye contact with them. You should look at them for a second and then look away. Then they'll trust you and maybe come up to you :)
I had really good luck with an experiment. I decided to ignore my cat for a couple of days, other than feeding him I didn't try to snuggle or pet or anything. Sure enough he ended up following me around the house and snuggling in bed demanding attention. We have since give back to normal routine where he ignores me until he wants something lol.
I think they do this because if they completely ignore you, then you're all "well maybe he didn't see me." If they do it this way, they're saying "make no mistake, I definitely see you. I'm ignoring you because I choose to."
Everyone here comes when I shake the Tempations bag. If they're in the mood. Lately, they've been kind of blase. Hmmmmm.

Ah, yes, I've lived this one with many cats. They just want to be wanted, I think. When we try to lure them, they sashay off, thinking to themselves, 'Watch the assterisk!' :-D
Heh, heh, heh... My cat has taught me so much about detachment using this method... :-D
naught little cat
Auto-Kitty does that to me all the time.
That's why i discovered that you must ignore the cat ;) and in a matter of seconds he/she'll come to you :P For me it works :P !
I do agree with you
Auto-Kitty does that to me all the time
