------ I think I'll do a few more longer comics. They're a bit time consuming, but I love making them. Anyway, have a great weekend. Be safe. xoxo Yasmine
As someone who studied cats for a degree in genetics I was thinking the same thing. Maybe a Kleinfelter male (XXY). He would have been sterile anyways. haha.
I'm so glad someone else commented on this! I was thinking the exact same thing about about a calico male being rare and sterile. Gotta love genetics! :)
That is true but he doesnt really look like a calico. More like a ginger and white. He doesnt have black. Torties and calicos are female unless they are chimeras, mosiac or have an extra sex cromosome XXy like Jen pointed out. Cat color genetics is super interesting. I love it!
very special.... and sterile. no little kittens for them. a male calico technically has klinefelter's and carries two x chromosomes and a y. but also, super cute and i love the longer comics.
Anereble! I also tought Calico cats were exclusively female. Apparently it IS possible but then the male is sterile. " One main exception to this is when, in rare cases, a male has XXY chromosomes (see Klinefelter's syndrome), in which case the male could have tortoiseshell or calico markings. Male calico or tortoiseshell cats are sterile due to the abnormality of carrying two X chromosomes. " Buy I guess in fairy princess world, anything is possible. Rock on! :3
Very cute. But I most point out...Calicos are almost always FEMALE! The rare males are infertile as well. Maybe you should've made him Orange since those are usually male and you could've made him with red hair in the end.
I love it! I wish people would skim the comments before making a correction for the hundredth time though. Interesting fact to be reminded of, but also, seeing a rare Calico male makes it cuter. :)
i think that the fact that the prince is a calico gives a twist to the plot 'cause he really IS a female
and that's why he(she) is distant and the words of the fairy: "well maybe it's because you can't force yourself to be someone you're not", are not referring to the princess but to the prince instead
the ambiguity is even greater since when turned back to feline form he(she) really turns into a female cat (and with no depiction of genitals we can assume that), thus giving the princess a new path of discovery for her own sexuality
and since he/she wears a crown, does that mean that the princess will be in a submissive role in a LGBT relationship? that gives an even darker tone..
I loved it! :D
