My cat Quinn has various words he manages to say when he's meowing at the bedroom door, mainly being "mama" and "hello?" he has that meowow-mowowaaaaa type meow xD
Our cat has been driving us crazy doing this recently. She's gone a little insane and comes upstairs to do it thn downstairs then up again. -.- miss having a good sleep but she is very cute.
My boys like to do this. Horus will get a toy in his mouth and wander around the house screaming. Buddy likes to hear his voice echo. So, he either gets in the tub in the master bath where his voice echoes REALLY loud or in the foyer where it is also loud. He also meows when he's bored. When that happens, I know he's going to start picking on one of the girls.
My cat LeRoux does this consistently (I have 2 - an orange tabby, LeRoux and a black shorthair - Cha Cha) - he's oriental/egyptian mau so he's very talkative... He's been known to say "mama-w," "hello (more like herrrroooo)" and "hyung-ah (brother in Korean)" - he says the latter a lot when looking for Cha Cha so we find it funny that he's looking for his "brother!"
I was house-sitting for some friends. In the middle of the night, in this big empty house, the cat would yawl "Mamaaaa! Maaaamaaaa! Mamaaa!" and it sounded just like a little baby. Freaked the hell out of me...
*LOVE* this one, Yasmine ;) Every cat talks, of course. We just don't understand most of their language ;) One of my girls used to always ask for "RAAAOOOUUUUUUUL!" but Raoul, whoever he is, never showed up.
I had a big male cat who sounded like he could say a few words, like "yes", "no" and"what?". Not just the sound, but the context. Like when he was bugging me to feed him, and wouldn't eat what was in his bowl. "meow meow. You have food. Eat that. "noooo". Did you just say no?" "Ysss".
I tried to teach him to say "out" when he wanted to go out. He had a lot of trouble with the T sound, but he kept trying.
I used to have a cat who we swear started to go senile as he grew older. He would walk into another room, and several minutes later we'd here the unmistakable "hello?" repeated over and over until one of us entered the room or he remembered how he had entered the room and left... I miss him...
I had a bathroom that echoed and my late cat, Jessica, would sit on the toilet seat and 'sing'. She loved the sound of her voice and was always talking but she put her heart and soul into the Throne Show.
My roommate's cat does the same thing when she leaves for the night. He'll sit outside her bedroom, and "Mom.. Moooooooommm... Moommmmmmmmmm...." All night long....
I never had any kities that said "hello," but I did have one yowler when I was a teenager. He got very lonely in the middle of the night and called for people. It's probably because of him that I can now deal with kitties waking me up without getting grumpy. @_@
I had a cat that used to call my name "Joy" when he was looking for me around the house, but since he couldn't get the "ja" sound of that, it sounded more like "YAOOOOOOY? YAOOOOOOOY?"
I have a kitten(she's only a few months old maybe a year) she's scared of most people,(because she was abandoned out side our house) and yet she can't be alone or else she starts to cry down our hallway "Hello?" and "Mom?" its such a sad and desperate cry, so i have to go and cuddle with her, she also has nightmares that haunt her and she crys out then, so i have to cuddle up with her and coo her to slowly wake up or else she'll hide under the bed and wont eat or drink for hours. she must have been abused too, because she hates adults, she only likes me, and her tail looks like the end was cut off DX. We know that she had kittens in the weeks before we found her, but we don't know where they are, the vet said they could of been still born or the owner could have taken them to sell and then dumped the moma cat off infront of our house. D:
Hahaha this reminds me of the first time I bathed my cat Katy. I swear she started yelling, NOOO! NOOO! HEEELP! My mom heard it and came running cause she thought someone was murdering a child in there. It really was surprising and kinda creepy and funny and sad, all at the same time. Hahaha good times.
Our cat Niles is a maine coon and he says "hello? hell -oooo" quite often. The first time it happened we thought there was a ghost. It was very disconcerting, but now we find it funny.
theres only 1 time my cat spoke 'ANDOUUUU!' It was very clear and very loud. I have no idea who is andou or what it is, which freak the hell outta us. But after that we try to make him say it, it wouldn't, hehe
so i just visited teh store. being a cat guy myself... i really like the "cat ladies unite" shirt. and think it would be even more awesome/funny if it said. "crazy cat ladies unite" and if it would be available in mens american apparral. cause i would wear that over the cat gents unite (nothing wrong with that one but one that said "crazy cat ladies unite" is so much more "me" and my humor. Make IT HAPPEN!
My first cat, when she was still very little, would call out my then-boyfriend by his name. "PAUWEEEELLL" (his name is Pavel, if you couldn't quite figure it out). She also had a repertoire of other words, like "hello", "no" and "mama", already mentioned here. Which is kind of silly, because we never spoke English to her, only Finnish.
My old room mate had a talking cat. Very vocal and responsive. The cat and I had a whole routine worked out where She'd answer questions I asked like Q:Whats your favorite color? A: Broooowwwwn; Q:What is Ronald McDonald? A:CLooooowwwwNnnn etc. etc.
My tom cat does this, specially in the middle of the night. It's so creepy. It's like he says "more, more, moarrrrr".

ReplyDeleteI'd love the cone of shame with a black kitty - I love blacks :)
Very tempted - especially as they're through a European company so I don't get stung with huge delivery fees.

ReplyDeleteI never had any kities that said "hello," but I did have one yowler when I was a teenager. He got very lonely in the middle of the night and called for people. It's probably because of him that I can now deal with kitties waking me up without getting grumpy. @_@
